Baby's Room - Work In Progress
The plan for the baby's room is to cover the walls with a
white undercoat, in order to stop the previously untouched
walls from soaking up the 'proper' paint. The paint scheme
then wil be Sky Blue for the top 60% of each wall, and Grass
Green for the bottom 40%. The top of the green will be made
to look like grass strands in order to break up the sharp
dividing line between the two colours. We then have some Plage
paint (off-white) and a special sponge which we will use to
make clouds on top of the blue sky.
This is a pretty much finished version of the room now. I
have fluffed up some of the clouds, and stencilled butterflies
and flowers onto the walls (you can see my favourite butterfly
in close up above !).
In one of the above pictures, you can see my 'sun' project.
I wanted something to break up the whiteness of the ceiling,
but I did not want to paint it sky blue, as I was concerned
that it might make a small room seem even smaller. So, I cut
out a sun shape from MDF, spray painted it yellow, then coated
it with a special transparent glitter paint, to give it a
shimmering effect when the light hits it.
All of the furniture is now in (cot, changer, wardrobe),
and the only thing left to do is to get a blind and/or curtains
more in keeping with the rest of the room. As I am sure you
will agree, the finished room is quite a change from the first
pictures on 26th April.
